I got this shot while preparing to photograph David Cerny’s Man Hanging Out in the Stare Mesto area of Prague with my iPhone. As I was composting the shot, the nun suddenly appeared in the frame. Thank goodness I had my wits about me and somehow knew to press the button at that moment. What a lucky shot. Then again, as the saying goes…
“I’m a Great Believer in Luck. The Harder I Work, the More Luck I Have.”
– A quote attributed to many, including Thomas Jefferson
Stare Mesto Street Scene by Molly Jarboe, featuring Man Hanging out by David Cerny
Man Hanging Out is in the ‘Stare Mesto’, or Old Town, section of Prague and is surrounded by richly detailed buildings, narrow streets, and cobbled plazas. The sculpture is close to Old Town Square and other popular areas in Old Town.
Well it looks like I’m on an iPhone photography kick for now. Why fight it? It’s so convinient in travels to just whip out the iPhone and snap away. I often take an iPhone version of shots even when shooting with My Canon 5D Mark II. But soon I will welcome a new camera to my gear and there will be some adventures to be had. Dreaming of the Fuji X-t1 that is on it’s way to me as I write. In the mean time, for now and for the sake of some color, a shot from the Erie County Fair, 2013.
I grabbed this street scene using my iPhone this week on a work trip in NYC. I used the app PS Express to edit the image.
Here’s a link to an article by James Hill published yesterday in the New York Times on: Snapping Good Photos with Your iPhone.
These are some of the photos I took on our road trip from Austin to Marfa. A tragic computer malfunction left me with no way to edit the images shot with my Mark II, so I made do with these iPhone shots edited using PC Express on my phone. One new hard drive later, and after my upcoming trip to NYC, I’ll have the other images up as well. In the mean time, I had fun compiling this medley of black-and-white photographs that, for me, represent some kind of magical road trip that may have been somewhere in my mind’s eye before the trip ever began.
I almost missed this sweet little scene recently while working with a client on a shoot for a business website. I must have passed beneath it 3 times before it finally caught my eye as I was saying my goodbyes. My camera was all packed up, so a grabbed this shot with my iphone. To me, it’s magical. Thank goodness for these moments.
